Basic 5 Day Course – £495 (see also Basic Weekend Course)
The Basic 5 day course is designed to equip you with a wide range of essential survival skills and wilderness techniques. It assumes no previous knowledge and takes you right from scratch.
The course runs year round, in all weathers. At the course end, you will be amazed at how your confidence and ability have grown.
Basic course contents as follows:
- fire lighting
- knife sharpening
- shelter construction
- water collection and purification
- hunting and trapping techniques
- plants for food and medicine
- primitive fishing methods
- improvised weapons for hunting
- essential survival gear (and how to use it properly)
- recommended wilderness gear
- wilderness health and hygiene
- distress signals
- outdoor safety
- making natural cordage
- hygiene and sauna construction
- improvised navigation methods
- different methods of cooking
- Route selection, wilderness abseiling and river crossing
This is the ideal way to learn the skills outlined above, as the five action packed days immerses you in the subject to a greater degree than weekend training can. The course is crammed with as much survival training as we can fit in.
The experience is totally 'hands on' and the amount of information you will acquire is impressive. You will be learning realistic survival skills that will be of benefit to you in any environment. At the end of the course you will truly be well on the road to mastering the art of staying alive.
You will be provided with a knife, two laminated guides produced by the British Mammal Society (British Mammals' Tracks and Signs and Key to British Land Mammals) and a Cambrian Survival Trip Plan, all of which is yours to take away at the end of the course.
