The intermediate weekend assumes a level of basic knowledge beforehand.
It is important that this knowledge exists, for students now move a step further and go into more subject depth. Don't bluff yourself!
If you can't make fire without matches or make a natural shelter that will keep the elements out, then do the basic course first.
The same subject matter as before will be taught (but in much greater depth) with the addition of:
- firelighting by friction
- making natural cordage
- hygiene and sauna construction
- improvised navigation methods
- different methods of cooking
- route selection, wilderness abseiling and river crossing
This weekend is designed to be much more challenging. Building on already existing knowledge, we examine in much greater detail the "how's and why's" of various wilderness and survival skills. It is all about achieving greater skill and efficiency. This enables you to do more with less and achieve the maximum result for the minimum of effort.
It is strongly recommended that students attend a Basic Course before attending this one, otherwise you may find yourself out of your depth and will not reap the full benefits.
