Family Basic Weekend Course
July 30th - August 1st, 2010
1st Adult £100, 2nd adult FREE, Under 18's £85
Please note we do not recommend children under the age of five attend.
This weekend focuses on teaching the whole family some of the most important skills to enjoy the Great Outdoors more safely. It is designed to be as fun and stimulating as possible
It is the perfect opportunity to learn wilderness and survival skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Students, both younger and older, will be able to discover what nature offers us and how we can best use it.
The course will equip even the youngest participants with a firm foundation of basic survival skills. Firelighting, shelter building, purifying water, finding North using the sun and wild foods are just a few of the skills and techniques which will be covered during the weekend.
The weekend is very much a "hands on" experience and all ages will be encouraged to take part in the activities. In a world where the family unit is under ever-increasing strains, it will be an opportunity for the whole family to work and play together.
For the Mums and Dads:
We aim to show your younger ones how to do things properly and safely. The Great Outdoors is a wonderful playground as long as certain guidelines are learned. The skills acquired on this course will last a lifetime.
For the Kids:
Ever wanted to cook over an open fire and spend the night in a shelter you have made? Now is the perfect opportunity. It's time to show the grown-ups a thing or two!
Feedback for the Family Basic Weekend:
"Dear Mike & Judy, Thank you for a marvellous weekend. Your course was well planned and delivered in a very relaxed style. We all enjoyed it tremendously and haven't stopped talking about all the new skills we have learned. The most important one, I believe, is the team work spirit the weekend instilled in our family. The best thing for me was watching how my family soaked up all the things you showed us and how they really enjoyed themselves and how the skills have transferred into our normal daily lives.
We hope to be able to book onto your family course next year, and Lisa and I are looking at joining one of your basic weekend courses. A huge thank you to Judy and yourself for a most memorable and enjoyable weekend."
