Be sure to bring all the kit listed.
If you need to buy anything, our shop or any outdoor shop, a chemist, and a fishing tackle shop should cover all your needs. Ultimately, survival is all about improvisation and adaptability.
- Rucksack
- Warm Clothing (sufficient for the period), hat and gloves
- Waterproof Clothing
- Knife (supplied by us on all Basic Courses)
- 30m Para Cord or String (para cord is much better)
- Water Bottle and Metal Mug
- Torch (a head torch is best) + 2 sets of spare btys
- Insect Repellent
- Poncho or Groundsheet (a good size is approx 220cm wide x 250cm long)
- Mess Tin, Knife, Fork, and Spoon
- 4 Season Sleeping Bag and Roll Mat
- Sturdy footwear
- Notebook and pencil
- Personal toiletries (inc toilet paper!)
- 1 pair work gloves
- whistle
Survival Tin including the following:
- Matches or Lighter
- Small Amount of Cotton Wool
- Wire Saw
- Magnesium Block and Flint Striker
- Needles & Thread
- Surgical or Razor Blades x 2
- Candle (small candle or tea light)
- Fish Hooks and Line (just a few hooks, weights, and about 20 metres of 20lb line)
- Snare x 2
- Condom (ideal as a makeshift water carrier)
- Button Compass (Silva do a very good one)
- Snare Wire
- Small First Aid Kit (to include a selection of plasters, pain killers, antihistamine tablets, tweezers, potassium permanganate and water sterilizing tablets.
- Sense of Humour
